There are some good songs on the album; it's really not all that bad, I think people just get into the mode of Placebo bashing after so many dissapointments and can't get out of the rut. In the end of the day they are older and not making the music that made their first (and most of the 2nd) album so exciting. So we're not going to get another Nancy Boy or 36 Degrees, a Placebo album is not going to be exciting again unless Brian gets really angry about something which seems unlikely.

As for seeing them live at the Alexandra Palace, it's just too big a venue. The last show at Wembley had it's moments, but it was just too vast to get much atmosphere; and let's face it Placebo have never been that exciting a live band to begin with. So to answer your question, I'm not going unless someone offers me a ticket for free and there's nothing else to do that night, but I'm sure you'll find some people more excited at the prospect to join you on the night.

i'm going even tho i hate ally pally... i gotta disagree with u kitten, i find placebo to be consistently great live even in big venues (i didn't go to wembley tho) but i saw them in some big place in paris, brixton is the perfect venue for them tho

I've always been disappointed with their live performances. I wish I could see them in a smaller venue once... I think they're lucky they have a good drummer as fas as their live musicianship is concerned though... the solution may be to see them in the US, my friend saw them there and there was less than 100 people in the venue :)

well,to be honest I haven't seen them live at all, even tho I've been listening to P for quite a long time and once or twice had a chance to talk about the everything and nothing over gin & tonic with Mr Brian for hours and hours, and I have to say it was a great time so Im getting too sentimental about Placebo all the time, anyway.I guess this is one of the reasons why i'm going, and yes..after all these years I'm sure I'll be satisfied enough to see them performing.Even tho they not that good live as you say.
So...,if any of you would like to join me,and meet up before the gig thats great let of know beforehand.

Mr. Molko as seen in France a few days ago.

I remember when he said he could not see himself in a rock band if he was bald and fat...

I think he's on the same diet as James Dean Bradfield, and shares a hairdresser with Frank Black. Neither all rock and roll as they are really suit him i'm afraid.

he looks to be what's regarded as averagely slim by most peoples' standards..  which is a bit fat by glamboy standards

i'm actually really pleased he's made the emotional leap to cropping his hair, but he should just shave it....

he's obviously been struggling with it for years... it's hard for someone who was so beautiful to lose his hair because he has a long long way to fall... if you're just averagae looking it's still really upsetting, but it's not going to make an enormous difference to how people see u (maybe still to how u see yourself?)

he still looks better than other 33 year old blokes, it's just he's always gonna be compared with how he looked when he was 23....

bowie is the only glamboy who seems to be immune to the ravages of time

Wiggy, that's because Bowie is a robot. Obviously.

To be fair though, you have to consider the photo itself - the way the light falls on his features etc. From another angle/different light it could look quite different. I saw a few gig photos of Alison Goldfrapp recently and in some of them she looked quite striking, but not-so-alluring in others. Anyway, it's extremely hard to stay thin with all that free food and booze backstage
